What is a Megabit? Mega - what?

A Megabit (Mb) is a smaller unit of internet speed measurement compared to a Gigabit (Gb). A megabit contains 1 million bits, while one gigabit contains 1 billion bits.

Internet speed is often measured in Gigabit/sec (Gbps).

If you have a 1 Gbps internet connection, you can download an entire HD movie in less than 1 minute and a 10-track album in less than 1 second. You can also watch high-quality videos on the network and send large amounts of data over the internet in real time without interruption.

Megabit (Mb) and Gigabit (Gb) are crucial for determining internet speed and can directly impact its performance. If you want high-speed internet, you might consider a fiber optic connection.

This may sound a bit technical, but with us, it’s simple:

We offer four or more internet speeds; the more Megabits you choose, the faster your service will be. You can choose between speeds like 50Mb, 150Mb, 500Mb, or 1GB—the choice is yours. Mb, Mbps, MB. What's the difference?

Mb is Megabit (small b),
MB is Mega Byte (big B).
Megabit (Mb) and Megabyte (MB) are very different.

Bit refers to speed; Byte refers to storage.

It takes 8 Megabits to make 1 Megabyte (MB). This means that to download a 1MB file in 1 second, your broadband must be 8 Mb/8 Mbps (Megabit/Megabit per second).

And the more Mb you have, the faster your internet is.

Still with us? This can help…

A movie has about 5000 MB (Megabyte) of storage space.

If your broadband speed is 50 Mbps (Megabit), you can download a movie in under 13.5 minutes.

If your broadband speed is 150 Mbps, you can download a movie in 4.5 minutes.

If your broadband speed is 1000 MB or 1000 Mbps, you can download a movie in 40 seconds.

A Gigabit

A Gigabit (Gb) is a larger unit of internet speed measurement than a Megabit (Mb). One Megabit contains 1 million bits, while a Gigabit contains 1 billion bits. Your internet speed is often measured in Gigabit/sec (Gbps).

If you have a 1 Gbps internet connection, you can download an entire HD movie in less than 1 minute and a 10-track album in less than 1 second. You can watch high-quality videos on the network and send large amounts of data over the internet in real-time without any interruption. Megabit (Mb) and Gigabit (Gb) are crucial for understanding internet speed and can directly impact your internet performance. If you desire very fast internet, you might consider a similar fiber optic connection.

This might sound a bit technical, but with us, it’s straightforward:
